Apart from being a computer programmer and blogger, he is also an English teacher, Spanish speaker, bass player, runner, and colonizer of Mars. (One of those isn't true...guess which one) In other words, he's interested in a lot of things and tries not to be a one trick pony. In fact, he tries not to be any kind of farm animal, preferring to be a semi-intelligent human being instead.
He also likes talking about himself in third person because it doesn't seem so vain.
