Open letter to my car

Feelin' normal
Feelin' normal
Last sunday was definately the beginning of some serious trip planning for me: I sold my Honda Civic. It's really wierd planning for the future by selling something that has been with me for 10 years. I know, I know, it's just a car, but I've had it since it was brand new and now it's gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not really sad by it, especially now I'm $3000 richer (bling!) and I don't have to worry about the coating of ice that I get to scrape every time that I want to use my car (i.e. once a month).
I think my car may have been a little confused during this whole process and I really didn't give her time to prepare. So, out of my own guilt from my dis-loyalty to Ms. Honda, here is an open letter to her, wherever she may be:
Dear Honda Civic Hatchback CX,
I'm sorry to be writing a letter to you like this. I know this is not how we wanted it to end.
Let me start out by saying it's not you, it's me. I know that sounds really cliche, but it's true. I've changed a lot in the past couple of years and there you are, just being your reliable, red self. I wish that we could have changed together, but this is how it has to be. On top of all the changes I've made, I'm also moving far, far away. It's not that I don't need you, baby, I do, it's just that I don't want you to feel neglected when I'm gone. You still have a lot of good years in you and I know you can make someone else happy.
I'm sorry if you overheard me when I was talking about riding the CTA bus. She doesn't mean as much to me as you, baby. I know she's not as reliable and can sometimes smell, but for now she's what I need, you know? Compared to other cars, you are definately not high maintenance, but the bus is no work required which is good for me right now. I can just get on her, ride her when needed and she barely asks for a thing. You're an awesome car and you deserve someone that doesn't just ride on any ol' dirty bus.
I hope you find happiness with your new owner; he seems like a really nice guy who is going to take care of you. I hope that you can remember me by the good times: driving across the US with our Norwegian friend, going on skiing trips, and bringing me home safely. Some of the best times we had were when we were together just listening to music or the radio.
Well, I guess it is time to wrap this up. Good luck to you in your future and keep those headlights pointed up...there's always something to look forward to.
Sincerely,
Kyle
