A Filipino New Year

We picked Malapascua as a place to relax, not as a place to party, so we weren't too surprised that there weren't any big parties for New Year's on the island. In fact, we found pretty much the only place that had 10 or more people and it was a basketball court that had been gussied up by the locals with big speakers and disco lights. So, when given some lemons, you buy a 1000 mL beer from the store and dance with Filipinos.Feelin' happy
On that note, I was surprised to find that the Filipinos on the island were terrible dancers. They all did a version of the "akward white guy" where the feet stay planted while the waste sways irrythmically and the eyes are focused on anything that is not near the dance floor. The only people able to pull off any dance moves, us included, were all under the age of 10. Maybe rhythm is lost during aging much like hearing and bladder control?

Not quite State and Madison or Time Square but when in Rome........ Looks like you had a good time just the same. Certainly was more exciting than our Mokena popcorn, bubbly, and a DVD!
