Happy Wedding Anniversary to Us

A) Costa Rica
B) Bennigan's
C) Bahamas
D) Nicaragua
Well, for us, we chose Nicaragua. Yes, it seems like an unlikely choice, but for us, it represented a good place where we could "splurge" a bit without spending a week's worth of money. Check out the hotel we can get for $60 / night:

Of course, no anniversary would be complete without horses, so we took a little tour of the city via a horse-drawn carriage with our guide, Mariano. While sometimes the honking cars took us out of our 19th century elegance, we were able to see a good portion of the city in style and without sneezing too much (I'm allergic to horses).

And, of course, we had an anniversary dinner. Nothing says anniversary in Nicaragua quite like Thai food! Yes, of course we could have gone with a more "traditional" meal, but there's really only so many ways to dress up rice and beans.

What others are saying
Happy Anniversary to both of you. What a perfect way to celebrate your reunion in style. And her haircut has a long Chicago automobile story attached to it!!! What is the name of the city in these beautiful photos?!
Has it been a year already? A year since Kyle bought everyone ice cream! How far you two have traveled...from the windy city to thai food in central america...so where's year number two to be scheduled? Anyways, my best, best hugs to you both and a toast for many, many more adventures together!
Aaaaaaaaawwwwww......HAPPY 1st ANNIVERSARY, you two Lovebirds!
Happy Anniversary Bessie and Kyle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations on one year. I can't believe it was last year that we went to that hot dance studio west of Downtown. It seems like yesterday. So much fun watching your trek. Technology is truly amazing.
take care and hugs from KC.
I'm so glad you guys had a happy anniversary! Mazel tov on one of the most fabulous first years of marriage I've ever heard of. (P.S. On the 2nd, I was thinking, "Man last year's September 2nd was a heckuva lot more fun than this year's!")
Since we can't comment anymore on your photos (or can we, and I'm just slow?), I have two things to say.
1. Bessie, you look like a movie star in that photo with the green door behind you.
2. I can't believe you have the ticket from your pre-wedding baseball game. Please tell the story about that.
You can comment on photos as they're just flickr photos. Click on the photo and it should shoot you to the flickr page for that photo.
Anyway, on question 2, Bessie brought me back a "proper" pair of shorts and in the pocket of the shorts was the ticket stub for the pre-wedding game!
Bessie & Kyle, Happy Anniversary from all of us at the GCFD!
Kyle - where in the world did you find a professional haircuttery from chicago down in Tica-ville??? I had to go with the central american mullet when I was there: I think I picked the wrong number on the menu.
Happy Aniversary you two!
I'd send you a postcard, but you'll have to tell me which consulate to address it to...
Michael
Actually, Bessie found it in Chicago. She went to visit the fam there for a couple of weeks while I stayed in Monteverde to mejorar my Spanish.
Speaking of post cards, we got your post card in El Salvador yesterday! Our co-workers scanned it and emailed it to us. Let me know when you have an address and we'll send you one.

Glad you had such a special first anniversary! Especially loved your photo in the cute blue Bermudas and top! :) Was the special pink and burgandy outfit a hit??? :) Loved the photo of the plate of food.....great presentation!
