Feelin' happy
I hit a big milestone recently: I bought my own bag of kimchi. The fermented cabbage hugged with spicy red bean paste is loved by Koreans around the world, and most Koreans eat it 3 meals a day. I eat kimchi for lunch every day at school, a few nights a week for dinner out, and then some.
Feelin' happy
Recently, though, that wasn't enough, I needed some for lunch on Saturday.

김밥 & 김치: two of my bffs
Here's my gimbap and kimchi I picked up for lunch. Gimbap is sort of korean sushi: rice, veggies, and sometimes meat rolled in seaweed paper. My tastebuds will never be the same again.

Did you burn it? :)
Looks so tasty that I want to lick my computer monitor; but I better not because it's dusty and it will turn my tongue gray! I'm happy that you have adjusted so well to the exotic foods.
Stay happy and healthy and get your H1N1 flu shots ASAP! Love to you...........
Although the kimchi does not tempt my tastebuds as cabbage and spicy bean paste hold no allure for me, the gimbap looks fresh and delicious. I've had the Japanese version on many occasion and enjoyed it. Glad that you are experimenting with local cuisine....just try to avoid, what I've heard is a Korean delicacy....dog. :( Tell me it isn't so!
Seriously, jealous does not begin to describe how I feel when looking at this picture. What I wouldn't do for fresh and healthy local cuisine!
Are there only Dunkin' Donuts in West Africa?
i have to say, i love korean food! someday you'll have it again, Linds!
ooohhh bess, im just not so sure lol. that gimbap may not be too bad though...
What does it taste like? Does it taste spicy? Does it taste a little bland like boiled cabbage? You've got my curiosity. I might actually go out and get some. But being Caribbean I tend to like spicy foods.
it's spicy, pickled cabbage. The process is chopping spicy, red peppers and rubbing them all over the cabbage. Then, it's stored for 3-6 months in a cool dark place. It's delicious, but I definitely can't eat it without rice!
Kimchi making time is coming soon, and I hope to get in on it & I'll put up another post.
I tried to make kimbap at home with my Mom...it was sort of a disaster.
