Heaven is flower fields in Furano, Japan

Feelin' happy

One of the things I was most excited for on our trip to Hokkaido, Japan was the fields of flowers.  Furano is known for its lavender fields, and loads of them.  While the lavender was just out of full bloom, the array of flowers that filled Farm Tomito left me ecstatic.

delicious lavender ice cream also enhanced the euphoria.

I'm not nearly the flower experts that my Dad and stepmom are, but I've attempted to label some of the flowers.  I'm hoping people can fill in the gaps!

What do they do with all the flowers? Boil them to make perfumes, soap, etc.,  They draw huge crowds to see the blooming action.  I'd definitely recommend it!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! Your flower identification seemed right on the money.....so I guess you WERE listening all those years and trips to Alsip Nursery. :) :) What a wonderful activity for your Japanese adventure. The work that goes into maintaining that flower farm is mind boggling.....machines cannot do much of that! It is mostly hand work.

You and Dad would have loved this place. And yes, I can't imagine how much work it is to maintain. I was working up a sweat holding my ice cream cone.

I think I have a picture of me standing next to the Farm Tomita sign from 3 years ago, almost to the date of your trip. So glad you enjoyed your trip to Hokkaido :).
