Kyle and I teach ESL 3 days a week to the teachers at an elementary school, and one kind woman invited us to dinner at her brother's pupusa restaurant where she is a juicer extraoirdinaire.  Alicia has been a teacher for 31 years, and did more than have us for dinner, she taught me how to make it!

First, you have to not be shy to say Pupusas = pooh-poos-uhhs.  Super fun to say.  They are every Salvadoran's favorite food.  It's basically a super thick tortilla with goodies melted inside: cheese, chorizo (spiced meat), refried beans, you name it, put it in there!

Second, there's a bucket of water to wash your hands.

Third, ball up tortilla mix in your hands, and slap it back and forth like you know what you're doing.

Next, put meat and cheesey stuff on it.

Then, pull the sides up to cover all the flavory goodness and flatten.

Grill & eat!
