Indiana Jones and the Tremors of San Salvador

Feelin' scared
Indiana Jones is descending into a dark tomb where scary music is playing and there are scorpions running about. All of a sudden the theater starts to shake a bit back and forth. Is this a new special effect? Is it like one of those Disneyland rides that is both a ride and a movie at once? No, this is San Salvador, a city surrounded by volcanoes where occasionally the ground moves without notice and that was a little tremor.
Feelin' scared
For those of you who have not experienced something like this, it is quite weird. It's kind of like when you step off of a moving walkway onto non-moving ground; everything around you looks like it isn't going anywhere, but you feel like you are moving. I must admit that it is a little nerve-wracking, too, as it comes on without any warning and there's really nothing you can do about it. Especially given what has happened in China recently I would prefer my ground to be closer to the static end than the moving end.
After the ground stopped moving, looking around the theater, though, no one seemed to really mind too much. In fact, they all thought it was amusing that it happened at such an appropriate time in the movie. For me, however, it took me 10 minutes to get back into the movie and not worry about those things that I can't control. Because even though it shook me up a bit (no pun intended), it would really suck to be worrying about earthquakes when Indiana Jones is kicking some commie ass.

For all of you seismic buffs out there, here is a link to the 4.4 Magintude earthquake that happened: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2008smac.php

Ya, the movie was OK. Indiana Jones is supposed to be ridiculous, but this one was especially so. I'm glad I was in a modern mall and not some historic building when the thing started shaking, though.
Seeing a film without the "moving experience" will for evermore seem dull. Very glad that you just go a little shaking and, as you noticed around you, the locals were unfazed because for them it is "same-old, same old." Volcanos always give you a possibility of "interesting" adventures.
Thank you for your earth shaking report... What I want to know is: what was the price of the theater admission + a box of popcorn + a Coke in the US Dollar equivalent... Yes this is a math test and your answer counts toward your final trip grade... so think carefully! .... Oh yes, I also want to know if the movie image ramained centered on the screen during the quake or did it sway from side to side as the projector moved??? We are all glad you are SAFE....................
movie admission is cheap! $3.70 in great theatres. Candy was about $.50-1 and the rest similarly reasonable. It's great!
Hey sounds so exciting...i still remember being in Acapulco with my exchange family (high school, i think) and mama joca yelling at the before mentioned Omar, "stop shaking the table!" and when he backed away from the table we realized the whole room was shaking! He is quite the trickster....The really funny part was then she got on the phone to the desk and wanted to know when the next quake was scheduled! ;0 We teased her for the rest of the day....i remember big waves on the beach that day. Too bad they can't give you a schedule, eh? I'll take twisters any day.....
haa haaa - I can totally picture that... Having everything shake around you, the last thing I thought of was an earthquake.
That's interesting about big waves - I hadn't thought about that part, but it makes perfect sense!
Ya, I like the tornadoes because you can see them coming. Much better that way.
Oh-kay.... Having taken a deep breath, I am now able to say: I am SO delighted to know that you Returned to your Mac to share this interesting news with us! (So! Did you find this to be the Ultimate Adventure Film?)
