Feelin' excited
South Korea is full of "bang".
Feelin' excited
A "bang," said "bahng" means room in Korean, and there are words in front of it like PC Bang, DVD bang, or noraebang, where you use computers, watch a movie, or sing karaoke, often in a private room.

Feelin' happy
I hit a big milestone recently: I bought my own bag of kimchi. The fermented cabbage hugged with spicy red bean paste is loved by Koreans around the world, and most Koreans eat it 3 meals a day. I eat kimchi for lunch every day at school, a few nights a week for dinner out, and then some.
Feelin' happy
Recently, though, that wasn't enough, I needed some for lunch on Saturday.

Feelin' excited
If there is a surefire way to get any of my students to pay attention, it is to mention Everland. They might not remember what they had for dinner or what their favorite TV show is, but most kids can talk for a while about Everland. So, if kindergarten age kids talk about it, then it is obviously a place that Bessie and I had to see.

Feelin' normal
We'd been wanting to hike Dobongsan (Dobong mountain) for some time now, and being mid-September we thought, the kids are back in school, it's not quite summer anymore, maybe it will be less crowded. But in a crazy-populated city like Seoul, not-crowded is sort of an absurd request. In case your curious, Seoul proper, one of the 10th most populated cities in the world, has nearly 10.5 million people, the greater Seoul area has 24.5 million, so yeah, it's densely populated.Feelin' normal

A Shaman Ritual: Another Korean WTF Moment

Feelin' scared
One would think that the longer we stay here, the more we understand. In a sense this is true, as we understand more about Korean culture everyday, but then there is always something else that happens that adds to the confusion. The more we learn, the more we don't understand.
Feelin' scared
Walking back from hiking in Bukhansan National Park we had one of those i-don't-understand/whaaaaaaa???/WTF moments that are becoming a normal occurance now. It started when we heard some drumming and yelling. Being the curious people that we are, we had to check it out. It's suffice to say that what we saw was one of the strangest things we've seen on our journeys so far.
