200 Days: Secrets Behind Our Vagabonding

We all have our own Lifestyles.  Stay at home parents, entrepreneurs that work for themselves, priests, aerobics instructors, Brittney Spears.  Each have different incomes, lengths of dresses (what's it called what priests wear?), and even hair (Kyle and Brittney used to have similar haircuts - shown right).

I've done the student thing.  The work 9-5 thing.  Lately I subscribe to the traveling vagabond, and boy do I like it.  I sometimes don't know where my next meal is coming from, where I'll be sleeping that night, let alone where I might be month from now.  It's exhilirating.

200 Days behind us, here's some thoughts about our lifestyle.

Control (or lack there of)

I imagine traveling like this is not for everyone.  First off, we relinquish a lot of control.  What kind of control?  Many things: over what we'll eat, the coldness of our showers, how long it takes to get places, the speed of our internet, the lumpiness of our pillows and spongey-ness of our beds.  Sometimes finding an ATM that works or ordering a plate of chicken can be a stressful ordeal.  It's all part of the adventure.

Together, ALL the time.
Basically, we're together ALL the time.  I weigh the Pros and Cons, although  Kyle claims there are no Cons, and I'll be honest to you all and say his socks smell sometimes.  That's really it for the Cons though.

It's really actually amazing being together so much.  I don't know what it's like to be retired, but I sort of think it might feel like this trip is for us.  Going from our everyday working lives to being together day in and day out.  Eating all our meals together, solving all ordeals together, making all our deals together.  EXtreme amounts of time together has sort of made us like an old married couple.

Did I say that, or did you?
Although we haven't been married for 60 years or anything, we've started saying things similarly and looking alike.  Kyle's picked up a lot of Spanish from me so he'll say "Perfecto, mil gracias," and it's exactly what I would have said and it creaps me out.  Luckily, Kyle has a "leg up" in the hair growing department, so people won't get us too confused anytime soon.

Passing the Time

Not everything is predictable yet (will it ever be?), and we keep eachother on our toes.   For example, Kyle and I sing a lot together.  It's a little embarassing, but Anyone that's spent relaxed time around us might have picked up on this.  Commonly one of us will start a song, and the other will finish it.
For example:  "Billy Jean's not my lover." The other: "She's just a girl..."  But then Kyle does this Wierd Al thing of changing the lyrics thing that usually involved words like pooh or poop.  Maybe I'm divulging too much, but we have to pass time somehow.

The Secret is, We're sort of Just Normal
Although we write about exciting things that happen to us on our website, when it gets down to it, we have more adventures on the road, but the rest of the time we're not terribly exciting.  It's like how Superman flies around and does amazing death defying rescues, but the rest of the time he's just some newspaper lackey with glasses. That's sort of our life.  The cat's out of the bag, and we're not leading super exciting lives all the time.

Here's a Kyle montage of how we look most of the time, during the not being eXtreme moments:
