Let's Swim in Mud!

Feelin' amused
Colombia has beautiful beaches, charming colonial towns, and the hugest mud puddle you've ever seen to swim in.
Feelin' amused

It's called: Volcan de Lodo El Totumo. The story goes that it was a volcano looking like it might erupt, and a nice priest threw holy water on it, a lot. Overtime it blossoms into a wonderful mud-bath that has no bottom we could find.
The experience goes like this:
Climb stairs to volcano top & down into mud.

Let locals slide you through the mud & give you a massage.

Float. We are not touching bottom ever. You just sort of hang out there, and it took all my effort to try to drop down further in the mud. Definitely no bottom I could touch.

It's one of the wierdest sensations I've ever experienced. We liken it to floating in chocolate pudding (although not as tastey).
Oh, and if anyone has swam in mud elsewhere in the world, do let me know, I can't wait to do it again. This trip is 2 hours east of Cartagena, $17/person with lunch & beach trip.

Awesome! It reminds me of the Dead Sea mud. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=575111&l=26c5b&id=592752064
nice. :) interesting what people will do for fun, right?
Interesting. I suppose people claim healing properties from the Dead Sea mud as well?
So! I wanna know is if the mud bath was beneficial for your complexion! LOL --Or didja just become a puddin'-head for-a-day? Ha! ha!
who you callin' puddin' head, puddin' head?!?! ;)
After seeing the staircase photo I can surely say that your volcano mud bath experience was completely OVER THE TOP! :>}
it certainly was a BUILD-UP! ;)
When we go to Colombia in February I think that we will pass on that experience. Actually, when we had the 14 inches of rain last month, we could have had the swim in mud activity for free(!) in our Mokena backyard. Only Mai Ling did the mud thing....on several occasions!
