If you find yourself looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night in Colombia, you simple ask: Donde está la rumba?!?  English translation: Where da party at?!?

Like a broken record, I'll say it again, We love CouchSurfing.  (Social networking site for travelers world-wide.)  The great thing about doing it here in Colombia is that people are SO friendly and SO enthusiastic to share their country with foreigners that it's really easy to get together a great group of new Colombia friends.

So we partook twice in Medellín.  The first time was a big dinner out for a very welcomed culinary change-of-pace, Mediterranean food.  What the meal lacked in flavor, the spicey company more than made up for.

Then came Sunday night on a 3-day weekend.  These holiday weekends are plentiful, and Colombians love a good time.  In search of the right spot, we came across a gem of a Mexican bar, called Dulce Jesus Mio, aka "My Sweet Jesus!"  We liked shouting that name.  It was complete with a donkey for photographing, but was a little pricey. (about US$3/ drink, the beauty of foreign boozing.) So, we moved on.

We found a great spot that played everything from salsa to electronic to Reggaeton to Spain's version of The Bangles.  They kept us entertained for hours, and it wasn't hard, as we ended up being a group of 20 people, locals, a few Americans, Aussies, and South Africans, all eager to boogie.

And as it turned out, there was this raucious living room dance party going on next door, and one of the Colombians with us knew the people.  So, sure, let's go!  We headed over, and I can easily say Kyle and I have never been kissed and greated so warmly in our lives.  (the cheek kiss is customary here).  A few of us even danced a bit.

I know you're all proud - we left our footie jammies at home, and whooped it up, Colombian style!
