Cornholio Visits His Home in Lake Titicaca

Feelin' excited

For those of you unfamiliar with the genius that is the Beavis and Butthead show, sorry.  Let me explain.  Cornholio is the alter-ego of Beavis who usually appears when Beavis has had too much stimulation in the form of sugar or caffiene.  Cornholio hails from Lake Titicaca, Nicaragua (which doesn't exist) and is looking for TP for his bunghole (translation: toilet paper for his rear end).  If you don't understand what I am talking about or need a refresher, here you go:

Being in Lake Titicaca, I couldn't resist being immature and resurrecting Cornholio in his search for TP.

Floating Islands of the Uros People

Lake Titicaca, Peru 55

The floating islands are islands made from a local reed that people still live on.  The story goes that the inhabitants were trying to get away from other beligerent communities, so they paddled their reed boats out to the middle of the lake.  After being on the lake for a while, they noticed that their boats started sprouting roots and connecting to boats nearby.  From this they figured out that as long as they keep replinishing a fresh layer of reeds the islands would stay intact and they could live in peace in the middle of the lake.

Corholio did make it to the floating islands without finding TP.  The reeds, however, could have been a decent substitution.

Speaking of the beligerent communities, one of such communities commemorated their best warriors and other important figures but burying them in towers along the shore of the lake.  It's a pretty good view, if I may say so myself.

Cornholio could not find TP again, but know knows that he wants to be a warrior. "Are you threatening me?!", he asks.

Copacabana

Lake Titicaca, Bolivia 1-22

Yes, it is the name of a Barry Manilow song, but it has no relation to the song.  Besides the song says that it is the hottest place north of Havana and this is definitely south of Havana.  Anyway, Copacabana is a nice, sleepy town that probably has the best sunsets on Lake Titicaca.

Cornholio did enjoy the sunset emmensly, but the lack of TP makes his search continue.

Isla del Sol

Lake Titicaca, Bolivia 1-63

The famed "Island of the Sun" is the birthplace of the Incan Sun God and also the home of the namesake of Titicaca.  On the island is a grey rock that resembles a grey puma (you have to really use your imagination on this one).  "Titi" = puma and "jaja" (pronounced "haha") = grey or smoke.  Somehow the Spaniards mixed it up and started calling it Titicaca.

Cornholio couldn't figure out the resemblance of a rock to a puma and also did not find any TP.

Maybe one of the best $18/night hotels in the world, La Cúpula overlooks Lake Titicaca and has comfortable rooms with heaters (a first for us)!

Finally Cornholio finds some TP.  Sorry about the lack of a picture, but Cornholio wanted some alone time with his TP

Does Don Cornhulio have TP for my bunghole? I think the picture of a long line was probably waiting for some sort of Machu Picchu thing. As for Argentina, we're pretty stoked to have a place of our own in a cool town. Come and vistit! We will definitely be there for the whole month of Feb!

Oh my gosh, you are such a dork. But I laughed through this whole entry so I'm not sure what that says about me. Although your Butthead impression is much better in person, I did enjoy the Cornholio impersonation. :) I'd tell you not to quit your day job, but I think I'm too late in that. :)

Oh Kyle. This is why I love you. Im very happy you found your TP, and got to see some beautiful, interesting stuff along the way. But that rock looks in no way like a puma. Sorry.

Ya, that's what I thought, but I wasn't about to go challenge the namesake of the lake.

Great humor!

You are looking very healthy in all of these exotic photos.

You seem to be prepositioned in posture to be the object of a perfect Chicago armed robbery and in a great mood about it! The Tribune and others are in bankruptcy at this time, so lots of folks walking around with their arms up these days...

Stay inventive and happy... your father-in-law appreciates you! Perfect time to travel...

Cornholio rules!!! TP for everyone!!

by Jenny at January 12, 2009 08:30 PM

Cornholio definitedly looks like he is in need of a female companion. Possibly he could find a cute little blond to help him in his search for TP. Oh, perhaps you might be able to persuade that attractive girl holding the camera........

Hahaha, thats a classic. Just seeing Kyle posing like that in all the pics was hilarious. Finally I got to see pics of Titicaca; thanks heaps. Apparently the POTOSí mines (ex-silver mines) are pretty cool. I've heard stories about the tour guide asking the locals inside the mines to blow some dynamite while the tourists are inside. The tourists' candles light out from the explosion. There's also a MASSIVE SALT area the size of a lake somewhere; I'M NOT too sure of its exact location.
The coca will come in handy I'm sure. Keep having fun guys.

I've heard about the mines, but seeing as going inside dark areas with things exploding really isn't our gig, we passed it up. The massive salt flat you are talking about...just wait. We'll have a post up soon :)

Heh, I went to Peru and couldn't resist taking a Cornholio shot too! I wonder how many of us there are??
