In one area of town (near Palermo), you can find about 6 parks all about 5 blocks by 5 blocks in size, plus a zoo. The zoo smell wafts over into the parks sometimes (mmm...elephant dung) so there's that extra wild ambience added to it.
Ok, first, yes, it is a large city. To get to the parks, you have to cross the street. I mean, it's only 7 lanes of one-way traffic.

Botanical Gardens
Sadly, we haven't actually been in the botanical gardens, but we pass by them a lot. The first thing anyone will notice about them is that they are run by cats. Seriously. There are probably 100 cats just chillin' in this park. I think people started leaving their unwanted cats in this park and it just got out of control. I think at night, they actually live out the musical, Cats.

Plaza Seeber
This is where we go running the most as it is the closest park to us. You think running in a city would suck, but with earthy trails like this, it's pretty awesome.

Japanese Gardens
Nothing says Japan like Buenos Aires. It's a nice relaxing place, but to be honest, I don't know if there are any Japanese people living in Buenos Aires. Chinese and Koreans, yes, but I haven't seen many Japanese. There is sushi, so maybe I need to look there.
As a side note, the guys below are in the Japanese Gardens talking and sipping mate. I could write a lot about mate, but it's suffice to say it's a ritual here that is like drinking tea.

The Rose Garden
If you're a landscape architect, this is your dream. It's a fully manicured area with lots of different plant and tree varieties, and of course, roses. On top of that, they are serious about protecting it. There are people walking around with whistles that are not reserved in blowing their whistle to tell you that you can't touch the plants or stray from the path. Apparently, they are not there at night as it is reportedly a transvestite hangout. I guess as long as they stay on the path...

Regatas Lake
If you want a quiet place to do your fishing, this is it. There are no boats on the water and the only thing disturbing the water is your fisshing line.

Ok, the real Porteño would respond with a huge list of other green places in the city. This is true; there are more than I can fit in this place. I'm just glad that Buenos Aires got this one right: we all need a reminder that there's a world outside the city.

We're silly and adventurous, computer geeks and yoga peeps.

It has been my experience that in any other country in the world other than Japan, Sushi places are run by Koreans, so you probably won't find Japanese there either.
Pretty pictures.
