Big Time Bus Rides Gone Comfy

Bus travel in South America can be downright luxurious.  You can book seats that are basically first-class plane tickets on wheels.  You get fed, watch some movies, and you arrive in style.  One bus in Chile offered us champaign with dinner, other times it was just wine.  Pishah.

I'm not saying I'd ride around on the buses just for fun, but as we've become weary of travel & long bus rides, they've been a treat.  When gearing up for a 20 or 22 hour bus ride (we've had a few), it's been awesome to do it comfortably.

Value-Packed Travel
We've splurged on the bus trips we've had over 20 hours, (San Pedro de Atacama to Santiago, Chile & from Buenos Aires to Iguazu and back).  The pictures where we're reclining we've been on the lower part of the double-decker bus in the "cama" or bed seats.  The top deck of the buses are "semi-cama", and recline a bit, but afford less room.  The upgrade is US$10-15 per seat.  The last bus that we took to Iguau Falls was $54/ person for 20 hours of travel.  Not a bad deal, and in my opinion, it's well worth a better nights' sleep.

The nice thing about these fancy pants buses is I find myself saying impossible things, like "has it really been 20 hours already," and "huh, that wasn't that bad."  Which frankly are absurd comments, but I guess time drives when you're having fun.
